Custom Fleet hosts EV breakfasts with Mary Heath in Sydney and Brisbane
We recently hosted Mary Heath from The Warehouse Group NZ (TWG) at breakfast Q&A sessions in Sydney and Brisbane.
The Warehouse Group (TWG) is one of the largest retailing groups in New Zealand with $3 billion in sales, 260+ retail stores and 12,000 team members.
Mary has been the driving force in the electrification of The Warehouse Group’s fleet of passenger vehicles, and is recognised as a leader in sustainable procurement over the last decade of her career.
Today, almost half of all TWG’s passenger vehicles are Electric Vehicles (EVs) and TWG are hailed as one of corporate New Zealand’s fleet electrification success stories. Custom Fleet is proud to have supported Mary through this journey.
The breakfast sessions started with an introduction to Arc by Custom Fleet, our comprehensive program for fleet electrification. Our program's core philosophy is to educate, evaluate and execute on a customer's sustainable fleet strategy.
The program offers an end-to-end solution:
- A detailed fleet analysis of your business' operational needs, fit-for-purpose vehicles, and a review of cost and safety factors.
- The design and installation of a future-proofed charging solution for your EVs out on the road, in the workplace and at home.
- Reporting and support for your EV fleet with the convenience of a single invoice.
Arc by Custom Fleet develops a blueprint for each fleet, recognising that each customer journey will be different and unique.
insights Mary shared with us included:
- Driver education is vital.
- Training about EVs and their capabilities needs to happen early to bring people on the journey. Lots of myth busting needs to happen!
- Senior Leadership endorsement drives urgency and priority.
- At the time, the available EVs had limited range, and this created challenges, but cars that offer about 400KMs of range have largely eliminated range anxiety.
- Charging infrastructure needs to be considered early before EVs are even ordered.
- Home charging is an important part of the solution. Budgeting for moving chargers and a process to reimburse homeowners for electricity must be considered.
It was an engaging session with no shortage of questions from enthusiastic attendees.
A highlight of the Brisbane event was the presence of two very desirable EVs, the Polestar 2 and the KIA EV6. These ground breaking vehicles are a great example of how advanced EVs are today. There were lots of smiles from the attendees who had a chance to drive the cars.
Custom Fleet recognises that sustainability is a key priority for our customers. As the leading fleet management organisation in Australia and New Zealand, we're committed to helping our customers get started on the journey of fleet electrification and other forms of low emissions mobility.
